Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The SDGs are a successor framework to the Millennium

Development Goals (MDGs) .

They are a set of ambitious economic, social and environmental

goals that the global community has agreed to achieving by

2030.

The SDG framework consists of 17 goals, 169 targets and 230

indicators.

This is an unofficial ranking produced by a teamof independent

experts of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network

(SDSN) and Bertelsmann Stiftung that allows countries to

assess their current state of progress on SDG targets relative to

other countries.

The UAE ranks #55 in the world (out of 149 countries).

The ten highest ranked countries in the SDG index are:

SDGs are a global plan for economic, social and environmental

development.

The

National Agenda

is the UAE’s domestic plan for economic,

social and environmental development.

The two frameworks are aligned, that is, they both profess a

multi-dimensional view of a country’s development by taking

into account economic, social and environmental factors.
